Matthew Asner

Matthew Asner’s life changed forever in 2008 when his youngest son, Will, was diagnosed with autism. His son’s diagnosis inspired him to dedicate his life to the autism community. In 2012, he left a successful career as a filmmaker to become Executive Director of Autism Speaks in Southern California, where he led impactful awareness campaigns and created the “Light Up The Blues” concert series featuring artists like Dave Grohl and John Mayer.


Later, he joined Autism Society of America, Matthew founded Autfest, the first international film festival celebrating autism, honoring creators like Pixar Ben Affleck. In 2018, Matthew, and his wife Navah, launched The Ed Asner Family Center, which provides arts enrichment and mental health support for special needs individuals and their families. A leading autism advocate, Matthew continues to champion inclusion and support through his work and personal life.
